Reason Behind US' Intention to Target WikiLeaks Founder Assange

The US Department of Justice is looking to prosecute WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange for multiple cases of data dumping. Speaking during a news conference, Attorney General Jeff Sessions called Assange’s arrest a priority of the legal agency.

Radio Sputnik discussed the issue with Kevin Boreham, an international law expert from the Australian National University.

“It is due to a lot of things but mainly three dumps of information on CIA’s cyber espionage techniques that have alarmed the agencies in Washington. That is being the impetus for the attorney general and the CIA director claiming to bring charges against Assange,” Boreham said.

He further said that these statements are a bit premature because there are complicated legal issues at hand.

Talking about the kind of charges for which Assange can be brought to trial, the law expert said that the complication lies under a conclusion reached by the Obama’s administration that suggested that the First Amendment of the Constituion, which protects the freedom of speech, would be an impediment to bring charges against Assange, who claims to be just a publisher.

“He [Assange] says that he just publishes information which he obtains but recent reports suggested that now Americans claim to have proof that he was more engaged in actually seeking the information and giving guidance on how to obtain it, so if that’s the case, then that would open charges under the legislation jury on the espionage act,” Boreham said.

Furthermore, the expert said that Assange is protected under the freedom of speech act but if it could be proven that he was seeking the information and “conspiring with people like Chelsea Manning to obtain information” then that would open the charges under the stated legislation.

“There is a technical difference between a reporter calling someone up asking for information and actually engaging in conspiracy to obtain government secrets,” Boreham said.

Vault 7 has been the subject of a curious and cryptic set of tweets from Wikileaks over the course of the past month or so. Now we know why. In bombshell news, in the greatest leak in Wikileaks history, in the greatest leak in CIA history, a total of 8,761 documents has been released in a series that has been dubbed Vault 7. Even for seasoned conspiracy researchers, the documents are fascinating and horrible at the same time. It confirms the suspicions and knowledge of many investigators. Now we have the proof to substantiate our hunches and intuition. The CIA has been caught with its pants down: spying on its citizens, bypassing encryption to steal their messages, hacking into their electronic devices to listen on their conversations, using US consulates abroad to conduct spying operations, remotely hacking into vehicles (to perform undetectable assassinations) and much more.

Some will be shocked, but really, let’s remember the true nature and purpose of the CIA: a rogue agency that overthrows foreign leaders, install puppet regimes, imports drugs, runs guns and assassinates anyone who gets in the way of its agenda, including US presidents. Wikileaks has stated that it has only released less than 1% of its Vault 7 series, so this is literally the tip of the iceberg. Imagine what else is to come …

Here are the top 15 discoveries and implications of Vault 7 so far:

Vault 7 Discovery/Implication #1: CIA = Virus & Malware Factory

The CIA is not just a rogue agency that runs illegal drugs and weapons, assassinates people, starts wars and conducts regime change. It has also spent untold millions or even billions of dollars developing what is probably the most sophisticated cyber warfare/hacking/spying department on the planet, equalling or even surpassing that of the NSA. Wikileaks reveals that the CIA has its own “hacking division” that is run by its CCI (Center for Cyber Intelligence) which by the end of 2016:

“… had over 5000 registered users and had produced more than a thousand hacking systems, trojans, viruses, and other “weaponized” malware. Such is the scale of the CIA’s undertaking that by 2016, its hackers had utilized more code than that used to run Facebook. The CIA had created, in effect, its “own NSA” with even less accountability and without publicly answering the question as to whether such a massive budgetary spend on duplicating the capacities of a rival agency could be justified.”

Snowden’s leaks were already bad enough, showing that the NSA was an agency above the law that monitored, surveilled and spied upon just about anyone it wanted, since most people on the planet are within its reach in one way or another. Now, we have confirmation that the CIA is engaging in exactly the same kind activity, or perhaps even worse. Could there be any possible doubt left by anyone that the MIC (Military Intelligence Complex) runs the US Government and the world?

Vault 7 Discovery/Implication #2: Bypassing Encryption

You know how all these companies promise encryption and some even charge more for the service? Guess what? It doesn’t matter! Vault 7 leaked docs shows that the CIA is getting audio files before they get encrypted. The CIA can hack into your phone, compromise your operating system and suck up your messages before they’re encrypted and sent. It doesn’t matter what precautions you’ve taken. Encrypted messaging apps like WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and many more are vulnerable.

Vault 7 Discovery/Implication #3: Bypassing Computer Operating System

The CIA can hack your computer. In fact, every part of your computer can be bypassed, including your operation system. Per Wikileaks:

“The CIA has developed automated multi-platform malware attack and control systems covering Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, Linux and more, such as EDB’s “HIVE” and the related “Cutthroat” and “Swindle” tools.”

Wikileaks publisher Julian Assange is not backing down, after Ecuadorian presidential candidate Lenin Moreno declared that the publisher should cease posting information online that may influence politics in nations that are friendly with Ecuador.

Moreno’s competitor, Guillermo Lasso, has also vowed to kick Assange out of the country’s London embassy, if he wins the runoff election.

But WikiLeaks publishes from the EU, not Ecuador, and will not respond to pressure.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Assange hit back, declaring that “WikiLeaks publishes from the EU, not Ecuador, and will not respond to pressure.”

Speaking to RT Spanish on Monday, Moreno stated, “One thing that is clear is that Assange will have to reduce meddling in the policies of the nations we have friendly relations with.”

Moreno added, “If you invite me to your place, I shouldn’t say bad things about your friends. If you give me shelter and I enjoy your hospitality, I should also show you respect.” Moreno declared that, if he wins, conditions will be put in place for Assange to keep his asylum in the London embassy, where he has resided for over four years due to concerns about being extradited to the United States.

Julian Assange’s lawyers are "assessing" the situation, following Chelsea Manning’s commutation announcement and Assange’s comments that he’s willing to make a deal with the US should the whistleblower be granted clemency.

"Mr. Assange stands by everything what he has said," Melinda Taylor, Assange's lawyer told RT from the Hague, but added Obama's decision to commute much of the sentence "certainly falls far short of what Miss Manning deserves.”

"Her sentence was commuted, but she wasn't pardoned. She should also never been convicted in the first place," Taylor said.

When asked if Assange is likely to get on a plane to America shortly after Manning is freed in May, his lawyer said her colleagues are now "assessing" the situation.

"The reason why Mr. Assange has been illegally, arbitrarily detained for over five years is because of the risk that he would face prosecution in an unfair trial in the United States. [Obama's] decision is the first step in the right direction, but of course his [Assange's] lawyers need to assess whether it goes far enough in ensuring his fundamental rights."  

Referring to a UN ruling that required both London and Stockholm to end the WikiLeaks founder's "arbitrary detention" which has not been implemented, Assange's lawyer said "there is a sense of frustration, that there is no light at the end of the tunnel."

"It remains to be hoped that 2017 will end this stalemate," she added, saying that if "the risk of prosecution and mistreatment in the US can be addressed, if he can be given effective protection against that," then there is hope Assange "could be free."

"His lawyers are trying to clarify his position in the US and to call on President Obama and the new administration to close this unfair prosecution of him," Taylor said.

The lawyer has also called on "organizations and persons" to "assist" Manning after she is released from jail "and ensure that she has employment." She added that the US soldier turned whistleblower's "bravery should have been applauded and it can now be applauded by people's help."

Did Google Kill Julian Assange?

Julian Assange was about to drop the hammer on Google. Did Google get to him first?

Rumors abound that Julian Assange, CEO of Wikileaks, is dead. 

People familiar with Mr. Assange and his daily habits point to strange anomalies right after the police invasion of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on October 21, 2016, in the wee hours of the night. Soon after, Julian Assange's internet access and tweets were shut down. 

They point out that: 

(1) Wikileaks' DNS server was suddenly pointed elsewhere; 

(2) Mr. Assange's subsequent tweets were noticeably more hostile and attacked his most loyal supporters; 

(3) Mr. Assange's tweets regularly misspelled the names of some of his closest friends whom he has known for decades (Gavin McFadyen became McFayden, for example). McFadyen, 76, a mentor of Assange's, was found dead; 

(4) Streams of disinformation were spewed; 

(5) Themes supported by Mr. Assange for years were now being knocked down/discredited by his subsequent tweets and communications; 

(6) "Body double" rumors have been circulated and documented; 

(7) New strange hitherto unknown moderators of Wikileaks have suddenly been installed; 

(8) His "deadman switch" has been activated, wherein much of his stored data and secret website PINs were to be released in the event of his untimely death. 

So all signs and evidence point to his death.
