The failure of the negotiations on the fate of
Donbass in Minsk due to Vladimir Gorbulin’s withdrawal from the Ukrainian
delegation is the continuation of the line of Kiev on the failure to comply
with previously signed Minsk Agreements.
It was said to The PolitNavigator by Nikolay
Ragozin, a political scientist of the Department of Sociology and Political
Science of the Donetsk National Technical University.
‘This is a continuation of the line of conduct
which was outlined at the last meeting in the Normandy format, when Klimkin
actually stated that Ukraine would not fulfil the Minsk Agreements.
Obviously, the political authorities of Ukraine
have taken a timeout in the Minsk process, expecting that the US president will
change, and a new president will maintain the US commitment to resolve the
process, bypassing the Minsk agreements.
Now, as Ukraine ignored its international
obligations, we reserve the freedom of action in this situation. In particular,
this may concern, first of all, the local elections in accordance with our
legislation, since Ukraine has removed itself from the process.
I believe Berlin and France will limit
themselves to a sluggish response to this matter. We should not expect anything
more active from them. On the one hand, they can not totally withdraw from the
Minsk process; on the other hand, they can not seriously influence it because
Ukraine fulfils the US orders.
I think that the West is beginning to
understand what an unreliable partner they have entered into a relationship
with,’ concluded Ragozin.
