HUA BIN: Aerial views of Chengdu and Chongqing

Aerial views of Chengdu and Chongqing

I am on a family trip to visit my wife’s folks for the Chinese New Year (Feb 17).

Her parents live in a city between Chengdu and Chongqing, the two major metropolis in Southwestern China. Chengdu, a city of 21 million, is best known for its panda reserves; and Chongqing, the size of Austria with a population of 32 million, for its spicy hotpot.

Chongqing was also the war-time capital during the Anti-Japanese War.

My own mother is originally from Chongqing and I myself stayed in Chongqing on and off during my childhood. Many relatives still live there.

I only paid short visits to the cities over the years. On this trip, we have a more relaxed schedule so I used the opportunity to indulge in some aerial photography.

I didn’t know the rules for Europe so sorely missed to take some aerial photos and videos when traveling in Spain a few months ago.

I thought it would be fun to share some photos from the trip since I myself am quite overwhelmed with the city landscape from the air.

The twin cities are no longer the polluted, smog-infected industrial dystopia of my childhood memory. They have turned into ultra modern high-tech lifestyle cities with dense skyscrapers and bustling streets.

The photos are taken with my new DJI Air 3S, a dual-camera drone featuring a 1-inch CMOS main camera and a 70mm tele camera that captures stunning 4K HDR video with 14-stop dynamic range and offers advanced night flight with forward LiDAR and smart features like Free Panorama and Subject Focusing.

Due to file size limits, I only uploaded several high definition photoes and reduced the resolution on the rest.

Hope you will enjoy them.

Thanks for reading Hua’s Substack! This post is public so feel free to share it.
