Looking Back and Ahead at Yearend

Stephen Lendman
The best yearend news was avoiding possible nuclear war with Hillary’s election defeat, along with eight horrific Obama years nearing their end. The unknown awaits, fearful uncertainty for what’s coming, hopes likely dashed like many times before.
Obama was more prince of darkness (no pun intended) than a leader delivering promised hope and change. He thirdworldized the nation, banana republicanized it, wrecked the economy, handed its wealth to Wall Street, war-profiteers and other corporate predators, while governing under a police state apparatus, hardened throughout his tenure, waging war on fundamental freedoms.
He turned poverty into a growth industry, force-fed austerity under protracted Depression conditions, affecting most Americans while super-rich ones never had things better.
He created mass unemployment and underemployment at a time fiscal stimulus is vitally needed - helicopter money dropped on Main Street, not forthcoming.
He waged war on humanity at home and abroad, turned US inner cities into battlegrounds, bombed seven countries, raped and destroyed one after another. Millions of casualties attest to his barbarity.

Washington’s criminal class is bipartisan. Duopoly power runs things, in lockstep on issues mattering most.
America is the epicenter of pure evil. No other regime in world history matches its villainy - never beautiful, no bastion of democratic rights, no land of the free and home of the brave, no advocate of world peace, equity and justice.
Neocons infesting Washington represent humanity’s greatest threat, allied with deep state power brokers, bent on world dominance no matter the human cost.
Daily events should scare everyone. Popular needs go begging. Militarism, conquest, occupation, colonization, and exploitation are prioritized, ordinary people increasingly on their own.
Criminality in high places is rewarded, not punished. Warmakers win peace prizes. Leaders waging them are honored, peacemakers vilified. So are social democrats.
At a time of year when messages of love thy neighbor, save lives, don’t take them, and do unto others as you’d want them doing to you, America defiles the spirit of the season like no other regime in world history.
Instead of helping others, giving thanks and fostering good will, polar opposite policies are pursued - a sad testimony to a rogue state obsessed with greed, self-gratification and quest for unfettered power, while beneficial social change goes begging.
America turned Christmas into bah humbug, Santa into scrooge. Imperial madness takes no respite throughout the holiday season.
Yearend resolutions are soon forgotten, promises consistently broken, what’s most important ignored - peace replacing endless wars, social justice instead of neoliberal harshness, rule of law inviolability respected, governance representing everyone equitably and fairly because it’s the right thing to do throughout every year, everywhere.
