Poland's Internal
Security Agency detained the leaders of the party "Change" which
stood for the country's withdrawal from NATO and the EU, criticised Ukraine for
its actions against Donbass and recognised the reunification of the Crimea with
Russia. The detainees are accused of spying for Russia, reports The
Politnavigator.
The security forces
raided the homes of party leaders Mateusz Piskorski, Tomasz Jankowski and
Conrad Recas, seizing their computer hard drives and documents found.
The head of the
“Change”, an ex-MP of the Polish Sejm, Piskorski was arrested. Other
representatives of the political forces might end up behind bars as well.
The press-service
of the party issued a statement.
‘We consider such
acts as a form of political repression and an attempt to intimidate the forces
that have a vision of Polish policy - foreign, domestic, social and economic -
different from that approved by the authorities of Poland,’says the statement.
The authors of the
statement emphasise that the "Change" was a legal party, while the
actions of the security forces were ‘a gross violation of the principles of
legality, which is unacceptable in a democratic country which declares the
respect for freedom of speech’.
